Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, is fast becoming one of the busiest airports in the country, with seven domestic airlines operating 90 flights daily and four international airlines operating from the airport.

The airport reported a 46.8% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 1.9 million in FY05/06. The major domestic carriers are Jet Airways and Spicejet. It has attracted several new international routes this month:

Indian Airlines introduced daily Ahmedabad-Mumbai Muscat service on 02-Apr-07. The carrier’s existing three times weekly Delhi-Ahmedabad-Muscat service will now operate non-stop between Delhi and Muscat.

Jet Airways launched the first non-stop Ahmedabad-London service (twice weekly) on 03-Apr-07.

Air Arabia launched daily Sharjah-Ahmedabad service on 03-Apr-07. Besides Ahmedabad, Air Arabia also operates to Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram and Nagpur.
