There is a wildcat work stoppage at Copenhagen Airport today after CPH has informed staff that the operation of the two staff canteens will be outsourced effective 1 March 2010. The decision to outsource the canteens will not lead to redundancies and the airport maintains that the agreement will benefit all employees at Copenhagen Airport.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) released its full year traffic figures for Abu Dhabi International Airport today, with passenger numbers showing a solid 7.3% growth rate throughout 2009 reaching 9.7 million for the year. Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of the few aviation hubs in the world to have achieved a healthy growth, while it has considerably outperformed the negative global average (-3.0%).

Kuwait based regional carrier, Jazeera Airways has opened its Jazeera sales desk at Kuwait Airport on a 24-hour basis, in a move that allows the airline to better serve its Guests by offering a round-the-clock service.

AUSTRALIA : Changi Airport Group (CAG) and Jetstar signed an agreement today to launch a strategic partnership that will see Jetstar continue to make Singapore Changi Airport its largest air hub in Asia for both short and long haul operations. As part of the agreement, Jetstar will operate its highest number of services and base its largest number of A320-family aircraft in Asia at Changi. It also commits to introduce long haul services using wide body aircraft out of Singapore.

The institutionally endorsed¹ programme independently assesses² and recognises airports’ efforts to manage and reduce their CO2 emissions and certifies airports at 4 different levels of accreditation (Mapping, Reduction, Optimisation and Neutrality). In the past two months, Airport Carbon Accredited status has been awarded to seven more airports across Europe:

Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) is raising approximately $126m through an accelerated renounceable entitlement offer to shareholders, using a staged approach, to partly repay the debt used to fund the acquisition of a 24.55 percent shareholding in North Queensland Airports Limited. As an eligible institutional investor, the council was offered additional shares at a discounted rate.
